Trip to Gateway Natural Area

Come join us for a visit to Gateway Natural Area!

We will have a picnic and hike to Milton-Seaman Reservoir.

Gateway Natural Area is where the North Fork of the Poudre River joins the main branch of the Poudre River and is the location of Fort Collins' original water filtration facility. There is a picnic area and rustic restrooms.

We will meet at 4:30pm at CSU University Village - 1600 W Plum by the office.
We will checkin and load up and then drive to Gateway Natural Area.
Once we arrive at Gateway Natural area we will have a picnic supper and then hike up to Milton-Seaman Reservoir.

The Milton-Seaman Reservoir is on the North Fork of the Poudre River. The hike is about 1 mile long. The majority of the hike is a flat trail along the North Fork of the Poudre River. The last part of the hike is steeper, as we go up the embankment of the dam.

  • 4:30-5:00 Meet at CSU University Village 1600 W Plum by the office
  •      Check in & Load Up
  • 5:00-5:30 Drive to Gateway Natural Area
  • 5:30-8:00 Picnic and hike
  • 8:00-8:30 Return to CSU University Village
(remember times are approximate and will vary, due to driving and weather conditions---we may arrive home later)

-bring your own supper
-bring your own plates and utensils if needed
-bring pre-cooked food
WATER for yourself--enough water for the event (we are not sure if there is a place to refill water bottles).
Camera (and binoculars if you have a pair)
